ABOUT LIZ

I love teaching people. I’ve taken almost every teaching opportunity that has come my way, including teaching dance courses at several universities, teaching yoga at music festivals, working with the UVA men’s football and soccer teams and serving as support staff for the first-ever mindfulness retreat hosted by the Contemplative Sciences Center at UVA. I’ve been teaching Pilates since 2005.

In 2016 after receiving a masters degree in dance from Temple University, I completed my 500 Hour yoga teacher training, as well as a certification in Yoga Life Coaching. I am most recently a certified Ayurvedic Wellness Coach through The Shakti School with Katie Silcox.

But more important than my resume, is how I teach. I believe movement is a celebration. My classes are light-hearted, challenging and fully committed to staying present with my students. Informed by a myriad of movement modalities, I teach with an overall understanding of biomechanics, anatomy and the nervous system. I pride myself on being able to connect to every student and teach any body and any level with an open mind and heart.

I used to call myself a yoga & Pilates teacher, but as years have gone by, I’m pretty hesitant to put myself in any box. Now I just say “I’m a movement and mindfulness teacher.” But of course there’s always more to us than a title, right? When I’m not teaching or coaching, I love to sing, hike, cook, make DIY products with herbs and essential oils, swim in any body of water I can find,, play with my deaf pup Aggie, salsa/tango dance and dream of my next grand adventure!
